The town between reality and story
~Spooky season edition~
Part 1.
Smallville. The famous village where everything seems to be like an exaggerated series about an outer space lad with exceptional superpowers. The hotels are always full of curios tourists and almost every studio has been fighting for a filming place since someone placed the first brick on that field.
Bigville. Nothing exceptional, just a boring city with even more boring people. Tourists always try to avoid it. If you stay there for a week, you might become a little human with no control over their yawns.
And then there is a town that lies halfway between the above mentioned two locations. You must be an extremely logical person to deduce its name, which was given by the most creative founders on Earth.
Mediville.
Nothing interesting, right? No. This town is the most important and not just because our story takes place there.
Standing on the border between reality and story, this town gathers magic only during holiday season. Halloween, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Eastern, Saint Patrick’s Day, Spring Bank holiday, Summer solstice – everything is included in the pack. Amazing, right? Maybe, unless you read the ant-sized information on the bottom. If you arrive before a holiday, you can’t leave until the holiday is over. Even more amazing. But what about Halloween? How would you like to be stuck for a whole night with beheaded people, werewolves, zombies, the whole Frankenstein family, your babysitter, ogres (not Shrek, he’s been on the loo since that iconic scenario), Dracula exclusively from Transylvania, vampires, ghosts, all kinds of clowns, more ghosts, teachers who give tons of homework and bad grades, monsters, jelly-shaped thingies, and that one old lady from the bus?
Would you still agree to visit Mediville? Yes? Congratulations! You’ve just earned the ‘Stupidest Person Alive on Earth’ prize. Sigh, fine, I’ll take you there. But are you ready for this journey? Oh, my God, you don’t have to shout! Let’s go!
***
Phew, I thought we would never make it here. See? Nothing scary – yet. But this cute dog will turn into a beastical hound with red glowing eyes! Is that the special, one-pieced contact lens of a cyclops? And don’t even think about buying a pack of Gummy Bears! Those small sweets are a delicious nightmare.
Are you laughing? Yes, go on, but don’t complain, I warned you! Shut up ‘till you see what’s next in Mediville!
Something’s not right,
It’s givin’ me a fright!
See ya on the dark side,
Or better go and hide!
Hallows’ Eve is near,
There’s one time o’ the year,
When everything ya fear,
Will soon become real!
